Food Photography Workshop: Tuscany

L

5 nights and 4 days at il Bareto, in the hills, 14 kilometers southwest of Siena, immersing yourself in Tuscan food and photography. Il Bareto stands alone among rolling hills, in 8 hectares of private land, with many age-old chestnut and oak trees… From the garden, the eye roams across a wide field, coming to rest upon the wonderful renaissance castle, Catello di Celsa, an architectural jewel by the famous Baldasare Peruzzi.

This wonderful sounding food photography workshop runs from September 3rd through 8th, each day touching on some aspect of food photography and cooking, helping budding food photographers try their hand at capturing the colors and textures of the region. Instructor Ignacio Urquiza, also known as Nacho, a long time photographer, has published over 60 books, including several award winning cookbooks and has been leading photography workshops since 2003.

And, if that’s not enough, there’s another class, from September 11th through 16th in Montepulciano, where Nacho, along with Pamela Sheldon Jones hosts the week on an organic olive farm in a 400 year old farmhouse. Days including visiting ancient ruins, wines, fresh markets, pasta-making, pool-side meals, muddled with discussions on lighting, props and how to make the most of still life images.

Pamela has spent the last ten years working in Italy overseeing culinary programs as well as publishing cookbooks which focus on seasonal produce, full flavors and food traditions.

Each week runs $2950 for a double occupancy room, not including airfare. For more information, please contact:
